The Grains Research & Development Corporation is one of the world’s leading grains research organisations, responsible for planning, investing and overseeing research and development, delivering improvements in production, sustainability and profitability across the Australian grains industry. This position assists in the management of breeding programs located around Australia focused on crops such as summer grains, durum wheat, triticale, oats and pulses. A challenging opportunity has arisen within GRDC as Project Manager – Breeding Programs. The role ensures that the strategic direction of the Business group is met through prioritisation and the management of a discrete set of projects or programs delegated by the Senior Manager – Breeding Programs. The Project Manager – Breeding Programs will in consultation with the Senior Manager set and monitor defined project outputs and milestones in order to achieve targeted project results. This position has a significant role in managing relationships on behalf of GRDC through the management of projects and programs internally across business groups and externally with multiple stakeholder involvement, in consultation with the Senior Manager. The successful candidate will possess: - Degree in Agricultural Science or similar.
- PhD in a relevant discipline or MBA would be desirable.
- A sound knowledge of agricultural production systems and agricultural R&D.
- Proven project management skills with a focus on the ability to achieve agreed goals and objectives.
- The ability to motivate, assess, reward and develop other people.
