The role of the Senior Metallurgist is to lead, develop and mentor processing teams in the achievement of budgeted production and environmental standards at budgeted cost in a safe manner.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of the Processing Department through the consistent achievement of budgeted production performance, including tonnes treated, gold produced and plant recovery.
• Advance the Processing Department objectives through effective planning, management and monitoring of activities whilst maintaining statutory compliance.
• Utilise assets to maximise return, including the development and application of new procedures, processes and technology where appropriate.
• Provide ongoing technical support to the broader Processing Department to ensure the achievement of department goals and objectives.
• Devise and implement appropriate laboratory and sample preparation procedures.
• Assist in the coordination of ICMI cyanide code compliance.
• Assist in the preparation and ongoing management of department budgets and forecasts and provide the necessary training and exposure to direct reports so that they can assist in cost control.
• Build productive and constructive interpersonal relationships both internally and externally to facilitate the accomplishment of goals.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and audit of the OHS and Environmental Management Standards and ensure compliance of yourself, department team members and all visitors to the department.
• Oversee timely and accurate reporting of processing data within agreed timeframes.
• Comply with all reporting requirements by ensuring that inspections and observation targets are met and documented, with particular regard to ICMI cyanide code continuing compliance.
• Correct and/or report safety and environmental hazards when identified.

To be successful in the role, it is essential that you have:
• Recognised tertiary degree in Metallurgy or relevant discipline
• 5+ years proven experience as a Metallurgist
• High level of computer literacy
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• High attention to detail and a proactive approach

This is a residentially based position, FIFO will not be considered for this role. Relocation assistance is offered for the right applicant.
