Primarily you will be responsible for managing the operations of a Food & Beverage business to maximize profit while minimizing costs. The Retail / Hospitality manager is also responsible to ensure promotions are accurate and merchandised to the company's standards, staff are fully versed on the target for the day and excellent customer care standards are met.

The Opportunity:

We are offering a proven Retail / Hospitality senior manager (from an entertainment background - such as a theme park) the opportunity to join this business in a critical leadership role.

Reporting to the general manager, this busy and challenging position requires an ambitious, energetic and experienced manager with a strong financial management background. Your ability to drive business growth, develop and execute strategy, provide effective leadership and develop and manage a team will allow you to create new revenue for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and motivating a team to increase sales and ensure efficiency;
  • Oversee all daily processes that are needed for a fully functioning retail outlet;
  • Respond to changing demands of retail environment to maximise sales;
  • Managing stock levels and making key decisions about stock control;
  • Analyzing sales figures and forecasting future sales volumes to maximize profits;
  • Analyzing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning;
  • Work with Marketing to prepare for sales campaigns;
  • Dealing with staffing issues such as interviewing potential staff, conducting appraisals and performance reviews, as well as providing or organizing training and development;
  • Ensuring standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met;
  • Resolving health and safety and security issues;
  • Responding to customer complaints and comments;
  • Organizing special promotions, displays and events;
  • Attending and chairing meetings;
  • Updating colleagues on business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues;
  • Touring the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers, and identifying or resolving urgent issues;
  • Maintaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doing;
  • Initiating changes to improve the business, e.g. revising opening hours to ensure the store can compete effectively in the local market;
  • Dealing with sales, as and when required.

Professional Skills and Knowledge:

  • Front of House Management experience in Food & Beverage / retail environment
  • The ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent communication and 'people' skills
  • A strong commitment to customer service
  • The ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations
  • Confidence, drive and enthusiasm
  • Decision-making ability and a sense of responsibility
  • The ability to understand and analyse sales figures
  • Sound business sense
  • An understanding of retail laws, security and health and safety.
